Reg Meuross

Delighted to welcome Reg back to our club for an evening of fine music and some decent natter too. Reg played our festival in 2011 and has guested on a number of other occasions at the club too.

Reg is described as a ‘master storyteller’. Using clever and imaginative lyrics, Reg has earned his reputation as one of the most talented folk/roots musicians around. From gigging in village halls to playing The Royal Albert Hall, where Mike Harding introduced him on stage as “one of the finest singer-songwriters this country has produced”; Reg consistently delights his audiences with songs of life, love and injustice; soulfully delivered with melodic high-tenor vocals and exemplary guitar playing which draws you into his music.

Taking the support slot this evening will be Light Garden from Bradford On Avon who stunned us earlier in the summer with their unique take on folk and roots music. http://www.lightgardenmusic.com/fr_home.cfm

Jack Harris

The literate, compassionate songs of Jack Harris have won him much acclaim in songwriting circles. A South by South-West showcasing artist at 17, Jack was also the first international act to win the New Folk songwriting competition at The Kerrville Folk Festival, Texas. Previous winners include Steve Earle, Lyle Lovett, Gillian Welch and Devon Sproule.

Jack Has also gigged frequently in the UK, USA and Europe, both as a support act and headline performer. He has made several appearances at The Green Man Festival, and opened for some of folk music’s biggest names, including Dick Gaughan, Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick, as well as contemporary songwriters like Anais Mitchell and Jeffrey Focault.

Jack’s live show is a rivetting mix of song-craft and story-telling, adorned by intricate fingerstyle guitar and smoky, soulful vocals. Drawing from the narrative traditions of folk and blues music, Jack brings both into the here and now; a “born poet”, whose songs are steeped in myth and mystery.
