What a great night last night, even all that snow and ice didn’t stop us from having an almost full house and what a lovely amount of talented floor performers we had.  Huge thanks to Mike Scott, The Cleverly Brothers, Alan Maskell, Paul Darby, Terry Etherington, Andy Fawthrop and Seend’s very own Audrey Aroha, Tessa Doe and Anita Shea plus myself with my band The Sodburys.  Well done to Sly & Gill from the village who one 2 x tickets for the festival next September, pass the parcel has never been so much fun!  Jen’s mince pies seemed to go down a treat too, what a great way to close the year on this cosy little club!  See you all on January 18th for the wonderful Thornbridge Trio!  A very merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!

Yes it is true, the most successful British Barbershop Chorus ever to exist have just been confirmed as the closing act for Seend Acoustic Festival.  Prepare to be literally blown away by 50 odd men from their early 20s to mid 80s.  The Great Western Chorus from Bristol have been around since 1974 and have won a record 8 gold medals in the British Championships including the last 2 they entered and will perform for us as the 2010 current champions, they can’t be the 2011 champions as they cannot enter each year as winners.  Under the brilliant directorship of Linda Corcoran (watching one lady controlling 50 men is entertainment itself!) they have performed all over the world including the 2009 Internationals in Anaheim.

Enjoy the 2 videos below, the first is their gold medal winning performance at Cheltenham in 2008 and the second is Anaheim 2009, I can promise you though that the youtube sound quality doesn’t come close to what you’ll hear in our community centre!

Seend Acoustic Festival

We have just agreed to hold a one day acoustic festival on Sept 10th 2011. The event will be in two parts, afternoon and evening and will take place at Seend Community Centre in the main hall.

Already booked to play are Mike Scott who is a regular of the club and highly popular, also Reg Meuross who is a bit of a legend in the west country folk scene, the wonderful Phil King from Bristol who stunned the audience when he played here back on November 2nd and of course The Sodburys, we also have a few big names to be confirmed so keep watching this space.  Have a look and listen to Reg & Phil below.

Tickets will go on sale in February 2011 and will be priced at £12.50 for each session or £22 for all day, they’ll be available on We Got Tickets , an absolute bargain once you see the final lineup.  Priority will be given to residents of Seend, Seend Cleeve, Bulkington & Poulshot, these people will be able to purchase tickets one week before they go on general sale.  There will be catering doing great food at great prices.

As this is only a one day event there is no camping available, sorry!  Watch this space for further details as they happen.
